What ContractLab does — and what it does not do

AI output
AI disclaimer: ContractLab output is not legal advice. Review the source contract, context, and suggested wording before relying on it or approving a contract.

ContractLab helps legal and business teams review contracts faster by extracting key terms, highlighting risks, identifying missing protections, and drafting review-ready redlines or negotiation points.

  • It supports contract review, triage, collaboration, reporting, and approval workflows.
  • It does not replace qualified legal advice, legal judgment, or final sign-off by counsel.
  • AI output should be checked against the source contract before relying on it.

Uploading your first contract

AI output

The Upload page guides you through file upload, contract metadata, review setup, and analysis.

Steps

  1. 1Open Upload from the main navigation.
  2. 2Add a supported contract file such as PDF, DOC, or DOCX.
  3. 3Confirm the contract type, parties, jurisdiction, dates, and review lens where prompted.
  4. 4Start analysis and wait for ContractLab to extract text and generate review outputs.
  5. 5Open the analysis page to review the summary, risks, clauses, redlines, negotiation items, and approval checklist.
Best results come from text-readable files. Scanned PDFs may need OCR before upload.

Understanding your risk score

AI output
AI disclaimer: ContractLab output is not legal advice. Review the source contract, context, and suggested wording before relying on it or approving a contract.

The risk score is a review-prioritisation signal from 0 to 100. It combines detected high-risk issues, missing protections, clause quality, and review context.

Low

0–39

Few material issues detected. Still review key terms before approval.

Medium

40–69

Some issues require attention or negotiation before relying on the contract.

High

70–100

Material issues likely need legal review, approval exceptions, or negotiation.

Treat the score as a triage tool, not a legal conclusion. Always inspect the underlying risk cards and source text.

Setting up your workspace

Workspace setup helps ensure contracts are visible to the right people and reviewed through the right lens.

Steps

  1. 1Invite the first team member from Team or organisation settings.
  2. 2Assign roles based on responsibility: owner, admin, reviewer, approver, editor, or viewer.
  3. 3Set the review lens so AI output reflects the party or position you are reviewing for.
  4. 4Use assignments to give reviewers, approvers, or contract owners access to a specific contract.
Contract access is role- and assignment-aware. If someone cannot see a contract, check workspace membership, assignment, and contract-level access.
